Deepening knowledge of national policies and seizing opportunities from national development
Macao, March 31, 2025 – The third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)—also known as the “Two Sessions”—were successfully held in Beijing recently. To give team members a better understanding of the Two Sessions, Wynn joined hands with the Friendship Association of Members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Fujian Province in Macao, Chinese Culture Development Promotion Association of Macao, Macao Association for Promotion of the Spirit “XinHai and HuangPu,” and Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Macau to hold the “Sharing Session for the Spirit of the Third Session of the 14th NPC and the Third Session of the 14th CPPCC” at the Grand Theater Ballroom of Wynn Palace on March 27. Ms. Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited, expressed that it is a great honor to have invited three keynote speakers to give an overview and share the highlights of the Two Sessions, namely Mr. Kou Hoi In, member of the NPC Standing Committee, President of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR, and Vice-president of the Macao Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Lao Ngai Leong, Head of the Macao delegation to the NPC, Vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and member of the Executive Council of the Macao SAR; and Mr. Zhang Zong Zhen, member of the CPPCC Standing Committee, Vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, President of the Chinese Culture Development Promotion Association of Macao, and Chairman of the Board of Goldcommon Group. Ms. Chen also stressed that the company is very honored to have the presence of Mr. Wang Jianfeng, Deputy Director of the Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Li Wenshen, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee; Mr. Loi Lun Sun, President of the Friendship Association of Members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Fujian Province in Macao; Mr. Lam Un Teng, President of the Macao Association for Promotion of the Spirit “XinHai and HuangPu;” and Mr. Cheong Ka Sao, Vice-president of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Macau.
At the sharing session, three keynote speakers gave an introduction to the Two Sessions this year and the key policies and directions of national development. Mr. Kou Hoi In said the Central Government’s work report is practical and pragmatic with the principles of “stability” and “progress” guiding development throughout the year. With 2025 marking the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the year that will lay the foundation for the 15th Five-Year Plan, Macao must play a greater and unique role with its advantages as “One Center, One Platform and One Base,” showcase its strengths to meet the needs of the country, and further serve the country’s high-level opening-up by expediting its integration with Hengqin and the In-Depth Cooperation Zone’s quality development. As the country has been continuously enhancing investment and support in technological innovation, Macao should further its technological cooperation and exchange with the mainland, share resources and draw on each other’s strengths in areas such as technological innovation, talent cultivation, and application of research outcomes.
Mr. Lao Ngai Leong stated that, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party with General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core leader, the country made tremendous economic and social achievements over the past year despite the complicated international environment. High-quality development is still a major concern of the government, which is also reflected in the ten key tasks of the Central Government in 2025. He emphasized that the Central Government is strongly focused on and supportive of the development of Macao, especially with the hope for Macao to actively drive its adequate economic diversification and participate in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on a wider scope, and the lives of Macao residents and young entrepreneurs are given special attention by the Central Government, among other areas. At the NPC session, Mr. Lao also paid strong attention to and gave multiple suggestions about including the high-speed railway between Shenzhen and Zhuhai (Macao) into national development plans and enhancing the tier-specific management policy for Hengqin
Mr. Zhang Zong Zhen said that, with a practical approach, the Two Sessions this year presented the achievements sufficiently, discussed the issues thoroughly, and straightened out the relationships between active governments and effective markets, total supply and total demand, volume and quality, incremental resources and existing assets, and new quality productive forces and traditional industries, truly reflecting the country’s people-first, self-empowering and self-reliant, positive and unified spirit. Macao should actively seize the new opportunities arising from national development, integrate into the new national development pattern, and build a higher standard platform for opening up to the world in order to serve the national strategy when engaging in the high-quality development and pragmatically driving its own diversification.
The sharing session for the spirit of “Two Sessions” attracted eager participation from around 500 Wynn team members from various departments and over 100 members of the associations, among others. Simultaneous interpretation was provided in English to convey the spirit of the Two Sessions to non-Chinese speakers. The event was also live broadcast throughout the Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace employee dining rooms and replayed in the back-of-house areas to convey the spirit of the Two Sessions to nearly 12,000 team members, further deepening and promoting the core values of patriotism for China and Macao.
Every year, Wynn organizes sharing sessions to discuss the spirit of the Two Sessions and convey China’s development strategies among team members, giving them an in-depth understanding of national policies. The sharing sessions have consistently received positive responses from team members at different departments at Wynn, including senior management, back office and frontline team members. These positive responses reflect Wynn’s patriotic dedication to the nation and Macao, care for the community, and adherence to its mission as an international company that is deeply rooted in Macao.
