‘Wynn x UNLV Student Exchange Program 2025’ Concludes Successfully
Macao, June 27, 2025 — The “Wynn x UNLV Student Exchange Program 2025,” organized by Wynn and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office, came to a successful conclusion recently. This 10-day in-depth cultural exchange program provided a series of study activities for 12 students from the Harrah College of Hospitality at UNLV, which not only allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of Macao’s integrated resort industry and its unique value as a hub of Chinese and Western cultures, but also broadened their international horizons, facilitated intensive academic and cultural exchange, and contributed to Macao’s role as a platform for international exchange.
The closing ceremony was recently held (June 24) at the United Nations University Institute in Macau and was attended by the Second Secretary Ms. Su Yi and Attaché Mr. Lin Huangbi of the Department of Press, Communication and Public Diplomacy of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao SAR; Mr. Carlos Roberto Xavier, Head of the Department of Tertiary Education of the Education and Youth Development Bureau; Dr. Jingbo Huang, Director of the United Nations University Institute in Macau; Dr. Patty Coaley, Assistant Professor in Residence at UNLV; Ms. Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited; Dr. Barry Ip, Vice President of Learning and Advancement of Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace; other Wynn executives including Mr. Charles Bell, Vice President of Retail; Dr. Jason Ni, Assistant Vice President of Business Development; Ms. Alice Chung, Director of Learning and Advancement; and eight Wynn interns currently studying at the Macao University of Tourism.
Ms. Linda Chen noted in her speech that, “Wynn hopes that this exchange program provides American youth with an opportunity to come and experience what Macao and China have to offer, deeply appreciate the brilliance of Macao culture, and the city’s long-term development as ‘One Center, One Platform, One Base.’ In doing so, they can promote and share Macao to the world as a culturally rich and diverse city. Wynn sincerely thanks UNLV for their support and the students for their enthusiastic participation and positive feedback and hopes to keep this program going.”
During the closing ceremony, UNLV students shared their learning outcomes, insights, and findings from the exchange program. The students noted that this is their very first visit to mainland China and Macao. After joining the program, they have not only gained a deeper understanding and knowledge of China and Macao but also hope that, after returning to the United States, they can share what they saw and how they felt in China, tell China's and Macao’s stories well, and create more bridges of communication between the two countries. Moreover, They believe the guided tours, job shadowing with Wynn executives, and their sharing sessions have not only deepened their knowledge of hotel operations but also provided valuable industry experience, which gave them a better understanding of customers’ needs, market trends, and business strategies, and laid a foundation for their future entry into the integrated resort industry. In addition, experts and scholars from the United Nations University introduced and discussed the latest developments, applications and future trends of artificial intelligence.
A series of exchange activities have been arranged for UNLV students under this program, including visits to Macao tertiary institutions, guided tours to Wynn Palace and meetings and exchanges with Wynn’s management, a specialized seminar on artificial intelligence hosted by the United Nations University Institute in Macau, thematic courses at the Macao University of Tourism, interactive workshops at the historic Rua da Felicidade, and intangible cultural heritage experiences. The program delivered meaningful outcomes, not only reinforcing Macao’s position as an international education hub but also establishing an innovative talent development model that integrates industry practice, academic exchange, and cultural immersion. This foresighted collaboration between Wynn, UNLV, and Macao’s academic community has strengthened cultural ties between Chinese and American youth, enhanced international students’ understanding of Macao and Chinese culture, and nurtured a new generation of globally competitive professionals. In doing so, the program contributes meaningfully to the continued innovation and growth of the global tourism and leisure sector.
Looking to the future, Wynn will continue to fully leverage its strengths as an international enterprise, constantly organizing various learning activities to nurture professional talent and actively building cultural exchange platforms. With such efforts, Wynn seeks to deepen mutual trust and cooperation on a global scale and further highlight Macao's unique appeal as a hub of global cultural exchange.
