Career-oriented training programs focus on local talent development

Macau, January 21, 2021 – Wynn has continually worked to cultivate the diversification of local talent and actively promote the sustainable development of Macau's position as a World Tourism and Leisure Centre. In order to help Macau residents explore a wider range of career options, Wynn has joined forces with the Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) to launch the "Wynn Care Career Advancement Scheme". It provides professional and systematic training for local employees, the unemployed or students, enabling them to understand the career prospects of integrated resorts from the perspective of a realistic working environment. Wynn recently held the certificate presentation ceremony for the scheme's inaugural course, the "Culinary Art Training Program", where all 20 participants who had successfully passed the assessment were presented graduation certificates, with wishes that they can achieve success in their future careers.

In her speech at the ceremony, Ms. Linda Chen, President and Executive Director of Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A., said that the severe global impact of the pandemic has brought both challenges and opportunities to occupational transformation. In order to help local employees achieve diversified professional development and provide them with value-added training opportunities, Wynn and the FAOM co-hosted the "Wynn Care Career Advancement Scheme". The ambition was to provide local employees with further inspiration and practical experience via training in different areas and positions, thereby enabling them to be well-equipped and ready for various development opportunities.

Ms. Ho Sut Heng, President of the FAOM, said that she hopes to help Macau residents enrich themselves amid the current challenging economic climate through co-hosting the "Wynn Care Career Advancement Scheme" with Wynn. Participants can learn highly practical professional skills through the carefully-designed courses, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the job market, while encouraging participants to upgrade their own qualities in different vocational development directions such as employment, job transitions and entrepreneurship in the future. This will also help to deepen the promotion of the moderate economic diversification in Macau.

As the first phase of the scheme, the "Culinary Art Training Program" was launched in October last year with a total of 20 local participants from different industries being recruited. They received an eight-week, 96-hour training course at the Wynn F&B Academy, which included learning culinary knowledge under the guidance of Wynn's executive chefs, understanding the practical skills of operating a kitchen efficiently, and receiving on-the-job training in different catering units in the hotel. Finally, all 20 participants successfully passed the assessment and were awarded a certificate from the FAOM.

Looking ahead, Wynn will continue to cooperate with the FAOM to organize different programs in order to provide a platform for Macau residents to seize new opportunities for future development, contribute to the moderate economic diversification of Macau, and support the career development and transformation of local employees.
