Macao, January 30, 2024 —Wynn remains closely attentive to the financial needs of critically ill patients and the long-term development of medical services in Macao. In 2021, Wynn and the Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association jointly announced the launch of the "Wynn and Kiang Wu Critical Illness Assistance Scheme" to provide timely and much-needed assistance for critically ill patients and their families who face financial difficulties. With the success of the initial launch of the scheme, Wynn and Kiang Wu are continuing their collaboration and jointly hosted a "Wynn and Kiang Wu Critical Illness Assistance Scheme 2023-2024" press conference in the auditorium of the Fok Ying Tung Specialist Medical Building at Kiang Wu Hospital today (January 30). Highlights from the press conference include the implementation of the second phase of the critical illness treatment plan; the introduction of a green channel for critical illness treatment as well as a sharing session from patients who already received critical care treatments.

The "Wynn and Kiang Wu Critical Illness Assistance Scheme 2023-2024" press conference was held today at Kiang Wu Hospital with special guests in attendance, including: Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited and Chairman of the Wynn Care Foundation; Lau Veng Seng, President of Board of Directors of Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association; Lao Ngai Leong and Ung Choi Kun, Vice Presidents of Board of Directors of Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association; Lo Chio Kam, Mok Chi Wai, Wong Garrick Jorge Kar Ho, Teresa Chui Ka Weng and Lau Claudia Cathioi, Standing Committee Members of Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association; Wong Yeuk Lai and Pai Ki Man, Committee Members of Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association; Li Peng Bin, Principal Deputy Hospital Director of Kiang Wu Hospital; Chan Tai Ip, Xie Xuebin and Lai Kai Seng, Deputy Hospital Directors of Kiang Wu Hospital; and Pan Bao Quan, Assistant Hospital Director of Kiang Wu Hospital.

In her speech, Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited and Chairman of the Wynn Care Foundation said that since its launch in 2021, the critical illness assistance scheme has received support from the Kiang Wu Hospital Charity Association and professional evaluation and data analysis from medical teams. In comparison with the first year of launching the scheme, the number of subsidized patients in 2022-23 increased by 111.8%. The aim of this assistance scheme is to help patients with critical needs; strive for early identification of critically ill patients; and provide timely and personalized treatment plans to help patients and their families overcome any potential financial burdens.

Lau Veng Seng, President of Board of Directors of Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association, said that the Wynn Care critical illness assistance scheme is a program filled with "love and compassion". Kiang Wu Hospital is pleased to now offer a green channel and a 24-hour emergency treatment plan for "Acute Coronary Syndrome", "Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding", "Acute Trauma", "Stroke", "Carbon Monoxide Poisoning" and "Life-saving Measures for Critically Ill Pregnant Women". This will significantly improve the efficiency and quality of treatment for critically ill patients while also increasing patient survival rates and reducing mortality.

At the press conference, Li Peng Bin, Principal Deputy Hospital Director of Kiang Wu Hospital reported on the implementation of the second phase of the critical illness assistance scheme. Li said that with the support of Wynn, Kiang Wu Hospital managed to approve and expand the spectrum of funding for the critically ill in the second year of the scheme. More individuals and families are already benefiting from the scheme. In fact, the number of subsidized patients increased by 111.8% and the amount of funding rose by 102.2% compared with the first year of the scheme. There was also an impressive rise in the number of recoveries, with 92.3% of critically ill patients under the age of 55 having recovered and discharged after receiving immediate assistance. Following on from his report, representatives of Kiang Wu Hospital introduced the new green channel designed for critically ill patients at the hospital. Several individuals who have already received treatment and assistance from this scheme were also invited to share their experiences at the press conference.

The "Wynn and Kiang Wu Critical Illness Assistance Scheme" is eligible for Macao residents who are not covered by government healthcare or insurance (patients aged 13 to 65), or those aged 65 and above who are not included in the scope of government funding. These individuals may submit a funding application form from the patient or family member for Kiang Wu Hospital to review in accordance with the latest approval procedures. The funding amount of the relevant scheme will be incorporated into the Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association accounts for integrated processing, and the use of the funds shall be reported to Wynn on a regular basis to ensure that such expenditures are used appropriately.
