First Integrated Resort in Macau to be Bestowed with this Honour

Macau, October 10, 2022 – Wynn places great importance on effectively implementing its corporate social responsibility agenda. The company aims to continually enhance the signature quality service it offers guests through the adoption of a range of eco-friendly initiatives, upholding its commitment to environmental protection while also pushing forward the sustainable development of the community. As a result, Wynn has been honored with the Grand Award in Sustainability and Social Responsibility at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards 2022, becoming the first integrated resort in Macau bestowed with this recognition. This further reinforces Wynn's robust commitment to support and promote Macau's sustainable development, with our efforts being highly acclaimed by the industry and gaining international recognition.

This year's Grand Award was bestowed due to Wynn's diverse array of sustainable development strategies and initiatives, as well as the use of advanced eco-friendly technologies. Our focus areas include:

  • Since 2019 when Wynn became the first in Macau to adopt the 'Winnow Vision" smart system with the use of artificial intelligence to reduce food waste, it has covered 70 per cent of the company's catering operations. In 2021 we expanded the Winnow program beyond our doors to the local institutions to promote the application of smart technology in the hospitality industry. This allows us to join hands with the community to promote a more responsible consumption and production model, aiming to raise the awareness about reducing carbon footprint.
  • In early 2019 Wynn partnered with premium Swedish water brand Nordaq to jointly design and develop the Nordaq 2000 Refilling System, becoming the first integrated resort in Macau to roll out this sustainable initiative. The system can fill 2,000 bottles of water per hour, and is expected to save 8 million plastic bottles every year, greatly reducing the generation of plastic waste and the associated carbon footprint during the process of production, supply and logistics.
  • Wynn won "The 2nd Sustainable Development Forum 2021——Typical Cases of Carbon Neutrality". Wynn was the only excellent environmental enterprise to be recognized from those based in either Macau, Hong Kong or Taiwan. This recognition affirmed Wynn's efforts and contributions to our country's green development and new carbon-neutral business plan, as well as the community influence.
  • Wynn has successfully gained dual certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody (CoC) and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Chain of Custody (CoC), making Wynn the first and only enterprise in Macau to acquire these international accreditations.

Through these efforts, Wynn has fully demonstrated its significant great efforts to improving its operations while supporting environmental protection and social responsibility. While we always uphold our commitment to providing five-star service to our guests, we also strive to continue to improve industry standards for sustainable operations.

Delivering his speech, Rishi Tirupari, Vice President of Sustainability at Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace said: "As a leading hospitality brand, we believe that our signature award-winning service can and must be delivered in a way that respects our people, our communities and our environment. This commitment extends beyond the walls of our properties, impacting the whole of Macau. We believe we can be a catalyst to promote boarder change and co-create a greener and sustainable future for tourists, for Macau's people and for the next generation."

PATA is one of the three largest tourism organizations in the world. Supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office since 1995, the regional PATA Gold Awards recognizes outstanding organizations and individuals in the tourism industry, acknowledging the very best that the Asia Pacific's travel industry has to offer. The winners were selected by an independent judging committee consisting of senior executives from the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. This year PATA Gold Awards presented a total of two Grand Title Winners and 23 Gold Awards in recognition of the outstanding achievements of the winning organizations and individuals in the areas of marketing, and sustainability and social responsibility.
