Wynn Receives Trip.com Global Elite Restaurant List 2023 Honors at Four Restaurants
Golden Flower Chef Henry Zhang Earns Macau's First "Star Chef of the Year" Award
Macau, June 30, 2023 — Four Wynn signature restaurants received culinary accolades once again at the Trip.com Global Elite Restaurant List 2023 award ceremony today. Trip.com is a dining hub hosted on China's leading one-stop travel service platform – Ctrip. Two restaurants at Wynn Palace garnered awards, with Sichuan Moon earning the prestigious Diamond honor, and Wing Lei Palace receiving Platinum. Two restaurants at Wynn Macau – Mizumi and Wing Lei – also earned the Platinum distinction once again. For the first time this year, Trip.com introduced the "Star Chef of the Year" award to honor outstanding individuals in culinary, and Golden Flower Executive Chef Henry Zhang Zhi Cheng is the first chef in Macau to earn this impressive distinction.
The Trip.com Global Elite Restaurant List introduced the "Star Chef of the Year" award for the first time. Only five chefs were chosen for the prestigious honor this year, and Executive Chef Henry Zhang Zhi Cheng of Golden Flower ranks among the select few. Originally from Beijing, and a rising star in the culinary world, Chef Zhang has already garnered a reputation for masterfully combining traditional and bold, innovative cooking techniques to meticulously craft modern Imperial cuisine.
Sichuan Moon, recipient of the Diamond honor, embodies the essence of Sichuan cuisine in a refined and artful way. With internationally renowned Chef André Chiang as Culinary Director and Wilson Fam as Executive Chef, Sichuan Moon elevates Sichuan cuisine by using creative new culinary techniques to design artfully presented dishes and showcase the profound complexity of Sichuan cuisine.
Wing Lei Palace, which received Platinum distinction, is helmed by Cantonese Executive Chef Tam Kwok Fung – a master at preparing dishes that are pure, natural and in perfect harmony with the four seasons. He is also a master at exploring new and innovative culinary techniques to take Cantonese cuisine to new heights in Macau, while also carefully preserving the rich traditions of Cantonese cooking.
Mizumi, which has garnered the Platinum award, is overseen by Executive Chef Hironori Maeda. He insists on using on the finest seasonal ingredients sourced directly from Japan and around the world to present Kaiseki cuisine and an extraordinary "Sushi Omakase" experience.
At the helm of Wing Lei, recipient of the Platinum honor, is Executive Chef Chan Tak Kwong – a master at creating classic Cantonese dishes with a modern and creative touch. Chef Tak is committed to preserving the authenticity and traditions of Cantonese cuisine, while also infusing innovative ideas into each one of his creations.
The Trip.com Global Elite Restaurant List was first launched in 2016 to provide Chinese travelers with a one-stop guide for travel and dining destinations. This year's Trip.com Global Elite Restaurant List covers a total of 100 cities and regions around the world, including 67 popular Mainland Chinese dining destinations. The restaurants are evaluated across five major categories: Black Diamond, Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver. Each restaurant is carefully evaluated by a panel of professional judges based on strict criteria which includes – the quality of food, level of service standards, the restaurant ambience, creativity and innovation – to cover a wide range of restaurant categories and dining experiences.
