Wynn Resorts in Macau Celebrate “World Oceans Day” and “Sustainable Gastronomy Day”
Macao, June 13, 2025 – Wynn is proud to support sustainable initiatives in celebration of “World Oceans Day” and “Sustainable Gastronomy Day”, spotlighting ethically sourced seafood. Throughout June, selected dining outlets at Wynn Palace are showcasing a curated array of Sustainable Seafood Specialties, while employee dining rooms at both Wynn Palace and Wynn Macau are also offering dishes made with certified sustainable seafood. This initiative reflects Wynn’s commitment to food sustainability, ecological conservation, and the responsible use of the Earth’s valuable resources, further fostering a culture of sustainability within the hospitality industry.
As recognized by the United Nations, June marks two important global initiatives centered around sustainability – World Oceans Day on June 8 and Sustainable Gastronomy Day on June 18. These two days serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of ethical food practices and the responsibility that organizations hold in safeguarding the planet’s natural resources. Since 2021, Wynn Palace has proudly held dual certifications from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Chain of Custody, verified by an independent 3rd party agency. Renewed earlier this year, these certifications reaffirm Wynn’s dedication to traceable and responsibly sourced seafood.
Throughout this month, sustainably sourced tiger prawn, scallop, cod fish and more will be offered to guests at dining outlets including SW Steakhouse, 99 Noodles, Palace Café, and Red 8. Highlights include Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail (SW Steakhouse); Stir-fried Scallop with Fresh Lily Bulb and Honey Beans in Chili Sauce (99 Noodles); Stir-fried Scallop with Lotus Shoots and Chili (Palace Café); Steamed Cod Fish with Fried Garlic and Luffa (Red 8). At each of these restaurants, talented in-house chefs will bring ingredients to life through a variety of culinary traditions and both innovative and time-honored techniques.
At Wynn Resorts, sustainability is more than a commitment but also a call to action, encouraging guests to make mindful choices and opt for food with lower environmental impact. Beyond certifications, Wynn continues to drive meaningful change. From 2023 to 2024, the resorts increased their procurement spend of certified sustainable seafood by 41.6%, reinforcing efforts to support biodiversity conservation while also advocating for the human rights of fishers.
* Note: Wynn endeavored to source and serve certified sustainable seafood across selected dining outlets as part of this initiative. Featured dishes highlight responsibly procured ingredients available in selected menu items.
