Wynn Welcomes the Year of the Rabbit with Auspicious Lion Dance Performances
Macau, January 25, 2023 — To welcome the arrival of a promising Year of the Rabbit, Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace Cotai hosted traditional dragon and lion dances, spreading good wishes to everyone in the community for a successful and prosperous year ahead.
On the third (January 24) and fourth (January 25) days of Chinese New Year, Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace held jubilant dragon and lion dance performances and the lighting of firecrackers for visitors to enjoy. Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman and Independent non-executive Director of Wynn Macau, Ltd., Ms. Linda Chen, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Ltd. and Mr. Ian Michael Coughlan, President and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Ltd. officiated the lion eye-dotting ceremony together with the Wynn management team. This ceremony, which awakens the lions, celebrates auspicious beginnings and conveys good blessings for a new year that is full of success and prosperity. The energetic lion dance performers danced to the beat of gongs and drums, and set off rows of firecrackers to welcome the New Year. Following on from the ceremony, the dragon and lion dance performers weaved their way through major locations throughout the resorts, where they performed stunts to 'pluck the greens' – a symbolic way of gathering wealth – creating a lively, festive atmosphere that celebrates old traditions and welcomes the arrival of the new.
