Wynn hosts the first sports industry forum

Experts and scholars gather to provide advice and suggestions for
diversified development in Macau

Macau, April 28, 2021 – In order to carry out the implementation of the Macau government’s policy to effectively develop the sports industry, as well as to provide advice and suggestions on the development of the sports industry and Macau’s economic diversification, the Wynn Care Foundation joined with Land-G (Macau) Group Limited and Macau Southampton Club Limited to host the "Macau Sports industry Forum 2021" at Wynn Palace on April 28, 2021.

The forum was attended and celebrated by over a hundred guests from different sectors, including Ms. Ao leong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR; Mr. Yao Jian, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Zuo Xianghua, Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Xin Jianbo, Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Ms. Ho Ioc San, Chief of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR; Ms. Ho Teng Iat, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Mr. Ho King Lun, Macao Deputy to the National People's Congress; Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau; Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office; Ms. Choi Man Chi, acting head of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR; Mr. Ip Sio Kai, Chairman of the Macau Association of Banks; Ms. Linda Chen, Chairman of Wynn Care Foundation; members of the Legislative Assembly of Macau; and representatives from the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the Macao Chamber of Commerce, local universities, sports organizations and football clubs.

Many well-known scholars, experts, entrepreneurs and industry leaders at the forum delivered speeches and shared ideas on expectations for the development of the sports industry in Macau. Mr. Zhang Yadong, member of the Executive Committee of the Chinese Football Association and President of Greentown China, and Mr. Huang Haiyan, professor of Shanghai University of Sports and Deputy Secretary-General of the Yangtze River Delta Sports Industry Cooperation Association, offered an in-depth analysis of the opportunities brought to Macau by the development of China's sports industry under the topics of "Reform and development of football in China requires the participation of the Macau SAR" and "Development of China's sports industry and opportunities brought by Macau’s moderately diversified economy,” respectively. In order to facilitate the development of professional football in Macau and further revitalize the development of the sports industry in Macau, many guests also expressed various relevant views. For example, Mr. Liu Jiangnan, Deputy Director of the National Campus Football Expert Committee and a professor at South China Normal University, talked about the "Creation of a sport city and the development of youth football training”; Mr. Liu Kanghong, Deputy Head of the Sports Buildings and Industrial Development Division of Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, presented “Football industry development and sport venue arrangements"; and Mr. Gao Jisheng, Chairman of the English Premier League team Southampton Football Club and Chairman of LAND-G (Macau) Group, gave views on “Football industry development is an inevitable choice for Macau’s three major development strategies". Following a lively discussion session between guests and speakers, the Wynn Care Foundation and Beijing Institute of Architectural Design signed a letter of intent on research into the development of sports and sports-related facilities in Macau, to further promote the implementation and development of the sports industry in Macau.

Wynn firmly supports the Macau government's key policies for the development of the sports industry and sports tourism. It will continue to play its part to deepen cross-industry cooperation, actively support the introduction of international sports events to Macau, and gradually integrate Macau characteristics into the sports industry, so as to effectively enable Macau’s economic diversification and its development as a world center of tourism and leisure.
