Wynn Continues to Host Masterclass Series Events

Building a greener future for Macau and promoting sustainable development for the city's food and beverage industry

Macau, June 29, 2023 — Wynn is thrilled to announce another partnership with Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM), introducing the "2023 Macao • Creative City of Gastronomy" Sustainable Gastronomy Masterclass Series from June to September this year. This annual Masterclass Series demonstrate Wynn's dedication to help raise awareness of adopting eco-friendly practices and sustainable ingredients within Macau's food and beverage industry, while also further strengthening Macau's distinguished status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and building a green future for the city. The Masterclass Series also provides local catering professionals and students with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the appeal of sustainable cooking ingredients.

The opening ceremony of the "2023 Macao • Creative City of Gastronomy" Sustainable Gastronomy Masterclass Series was successfully held at Wynn Palace Grand Theater yesterday and attracted more than 100 participants. Ms. Linda Chen, President and Executive Director of Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A., delivered a speech during the ceremony, said "Wynn has consistently placed a high value on food sustainability, responsible use of Earth's precious resources and environmental conservation. Over the years, the Wynn Food & Beverage Academy has not only provided top-tier training for Macau's food and beverage practitioners and chefs, but also has been a driving force in promoting sustainable ingredients and culinary techniques. This approach has significant contributed to the enrichment of Macau's diverse food culture."

The opening ceremony was attended by notable guests including Mr. Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of MGTO; Ms. Diamantina Coimbra, Vice-President of IFTM; Ms. Linda Chen, President and Executive Director of Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A.; Ms. Fongyee Walker MW, Master of Wine; Ms. Andreea Apostol, Raw and Plant-Based Chef; Mr. Hans Lee Rasmussen, IFTM General Manager of Educational Restaurant; along with industry professionals and representatives from related sectors.

The opening ceremony also included a sharing session, where representatives from the co-organizers and the three speakers of the Masterclass Series shared their insights on sustainable development in the food and beverage industry. To kick off the Masterclass Series, Ms. Fongyee Walker, the first China-based Master of Wine, provided an easily understandable overview of organic wine for industry professionals and students. Other events in the Masterclass Series will be led by guest speakers including Mr. Stan Shea, Marine Programme Director of BLOOM Association Hong Kong; Ms. Andreea Apostol, Raw and Plant-Based Chef; and Mr. Hans Lee Rasmussen, IFTM General Manager of Educational Restaurant, who will also conduct culinary demonstration sessions.
