Wynn Hosts Certified Wine "Masterclass" Series

Nurturing talent development in Macao to enrich 'Tourism + Gastronomy'
experiences for visitors from around the world.

Wynn is pleased to partner with the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Macao University of Tourism to launch a new Certified Wine "Masterclass" Series between April and September this year. This series of certified Masterclass sessions are designed to develop professional talent in the field of food and beverage, give students a much more in-depth understanding of wines and culture, while also advancing the sustainable development of Macao as a "Creative City of Gastronomy". The Masterclass series is supported by Dragon Phoenix Wine Consulting (Beijing) Ltd., Wines of South Africa (WOSA), Wines of Argentina, and Wines of Portugal.


The official launch ceremony and the first sharing session were successfully held yesterday (April 23) attracted more than 100 participants. Special guests Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office; Dr. Fanny Vong, Rector of the Macao University of Tourism; Ms. Linda Chen, President and Executive Director, Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A. and other representatives from the industry attended the launch ceremony.


Ms. Linda Chen said in her speech: "Wynn has invited a number of internationally renowned wine experts to Macao to serve as lecturers for this new Certified Wine "Masterclass" Series. They will share their in-depth knowledge and characteristics of Atlantic wines. The goal of the Masterclass series is to give the local Food and Beverage industry as well as the Macao community an even deeper understanding and appreciation of wines. We also aim to cultivate more talented individuals for the industry, strengthen the city's role as a destination for educational tours, and build on Macao's status as a UNESCO-designated 'Creative City of Gastronomy'."


During the ceremony, Ms. Fongyee Walker MW, co-founder of Dragon Phoenix Wine Consulting; Ms. Jennifer Luk, Certified Lecturer of Wines of Argentina; and Mr. David Wong, Executive Director of the Wynn Food & Beverage Academy and Certified Wines of Portugal Educator hosted a sharing session to talk about Atlantic wines. From April to September, the three wine educators will teach a total of five "Masterclass" courses for the certified wine series. They will share their knowledge of wines, the characteristics of different wine-producing regions, and arrange a variety of wine tastings for students to learn more about wines and food pairing tips. The training and assessment programs of each course are recognized by certification agencies. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the examination will receive a certificate.
