MACAU, April 14, 2016 – The launch of the '2016 First Quarter Local SME Procurement Partnership Program – Business Matching Session in Food & Beverage Category', organized by Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A. together with the Macao Chamber of Commerce, was successfully held today at the Ballroom of Wynn Macau. The press conference was also supported by the Secretariat for Economy and Finance, the Economic Bureau, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) and the Business Incubation Center for Youth.

The '2016 First Quarter Wynn Local SME Procurement Partnership Program – Business Matching Session in Food & Beverage Category' received an overwhelming response from SMEs, attracting 112 local merchants to join the business matching session for the Food & Beverage Category. During the session, heads of the Food & Beverage Department and Procurement Department at Wynn Macau introduced their basic operations, food safety standards, categories and standards of products, procurement procedures and requirements, among others, to all present SMEs. Wynn Macau met with the local companies, following this introduction, for a follow-up of the discussion. The three major local banks including Bank of China (Macau Branch), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) and Banco Nacional Ultramarino also attended the meeting to provide suitable business information for local SMEs as needed.

Ms. Linda Chen, Executive Director of Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A. , said in her speech, "Local SMEs play an important role in supporting the diversification of Macau's economy, creating employment as well as fostering the stable development of the economy. In recent years, we noticed that the different initiatives promoted the SAR Government to support local SMEs are diversified and multi-angled. These initiatives aim to bring convenience to people and simplify the bureaucratic process, while strengthening the business environment for SMEs. Wynn Macau hopes to continually cooperate with local SMEs to establish a stable and energetic employment and economic environment. We also hope to face all challenges and create a new way of working through our long-standing quality and innovative spirit."

Mr. Chui Yuk Lam, Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Macao Chamber of Commerce stated, "We held the '2016 First Quarter Local SME Procurement Partnership Program – Business Matching Session in Food & Beverage Category' here today, offering more than 100 SMEs from the food and beverage category the chance to meet and speak with Wynn Resorts. We believe that buyers would have a deeper understanding of the suppliers' offers following the product introduction session hosted by the organizers, which in turn creates more business opportunities for both parties. We sincerely hope that by establishing a partnership with large corporations, companies can improve and strengthen themselves and then, in turn, support the development of other Small and Micro Enterprises.'

Design solutions from the five finalists of the 'Procurement Platform Mobile App Design Competition' were also showcased on the same day. This competition is co-hosted by Wynn Macau and the Macao Chamber of Commerce, commissioned by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) and with the support of the Business Incubation Center for Youth. The jury was composed of representatives of the aforementioned organizations and special representatives from the Economic Bureau, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Macao Computer Society. The organizers hope that the platform, created as a result of the competition, will allow local SMEs to conveniently access opportunities presented by larger corporations, foster the growth of the local technology industry and encourage creativity among local youth enterprises. The platform will also be opened to the public free of charge, in a collaborative effort to promote mutually beneficial development.

Following the SAR Government's initiatives in supporting SMEs, both Wynn and the MCC placed special attention on cultivating three major types of local businesses: small and micro enterprises, 'made in Macao' companies, and companies created by young Macau entrepreneurs. Wynn will release a list of 36 different procurement projects for local companies to participate in. Each of the Business Matching Sessions will focus on one main category, namely Food & Beverage, Hotel Operations, Facilities and Others, including but not limited to Services and Contracts. Wynn believes that the development of local enterprises is key in promoting the diversification of Macau's economy. The opening of Wynn Palace in Cotai this year will not only bring another luxurious integrated resort to Macau, but will also drive the development of various business sectors, bringing more business opportunities for local enterprises and thus further developing the local supply chain.
